Immigration procedures

Organising a long-term stay in another country involves all sorts of immigration procedures, which can sometimes be difficult to understand and time-consuming. Furthermore, Switzerland’s cantonal system can be complicated and, although the basic immigration laws and procedures are regulated at federal level, there may be procedural differences depending on the canton of residence (i.e. the canton where the boarding school is located).

Here you can find some introductory information regarding immigration procedures if you wish to have a basic idea of legal requirements to live in Switzerland.

However, if required by the applicant’s family, SCIE requests all necessary documents from local cantonal authorities and takes care of all immigration procedures in the language of the specific canton. We also help families with the renewal of permits and departure procedures.
